To Adopt or Not Adopt?

Adopting a pet is a big responsibility; there are many things that you should consider before you look for a dog, a cat, and more.

Cats

          Advantages

- They help get rid of rodent problems, if you have them, in the house.

- Cats don't need to be walked because they exercise themselves.

- Cats are low maintenance which makes it easier  for you to go away for a small trip for a few days.

-The only thing that you would need to do for your cat is to feed them, give them water, and change the litter box regularly.

          Disadvantages :

- Cats can catch fleas easily and it is expensive to get rid of.

- Cats tend to scratch people and furniture.

- Cats tend to vomit a lot and you will have to clean it up.

- They shed a lot and it ends up being everywhere.

- You have to clean out the smelly litter box.

- Cats are very hard to train.

- Cats might give a little dead present because they are natural born killers which means they might leave the house and come back with a dead bird or mouse in their mouth.

- Some people may be allergic to cats so it might be hard for someone to come over to your house if you have a cat and they have a cat allergy.

- Vet bills can be expensive.

Dogs:

When considering adopting a dog, here are some advantages and disadvantages that you should know.

          Advantages

- They are fun to play with and hang around.

- They can help you exercise and motivate you to exercise.

- They are the perfect best friend.

- They can be the perfect guard dog even if your pet isn't dangerous. Barking can inform a burglar that your pet is there to protect your house and your family.

           Disadvantages

-Time commitment: What this means is that a dog needs a lot of your time for example; they need to be walked and let out multiple time during the day.

- Cost: Having a dog is costly; You have to be able to buy the dog food, vet and vaccinations, and dog hotels when you have to travel without your pet.

- Training: Whether you adopt a puppy or a dog, they need proper training once they move into a home. They need to learn basic commands, for example: knowing their name, potty training, listening to commands, walking on a leash, and more.
